At First UMC Elgin, we are honored to host memorial services for departed loved ones and we are here to provide families with spiritual care and support. In funerals and memorial services at the church, we gather together to celebrate the gift of life, comfort one another in grief, and hold fast to God's promise of resurrection. Ways to Honor Your Loved One
We know how much it means to be able to memorialize a deceased loved one. Here are a few ways you can honor your loved one:
Prayer Ministry
Each day our Pastor, members of the church, and community are praying for family and friends of First UMC Elgin. We update our prayer list every day with the joys and concerns of our congregation. Let us provide comfort during your time of healing by allowing us to pray for the family and friends of your deceased loved one. Click here to submit a prayer request.
Memorial Flowers
Each Sunday, the altar flowers for our worship service are sponsored in honor of someone, to celebrate an occasion, or to remember a loved one. The flowers are supplied by Debi's Designs in South Elgin and are placed on the front altar. After service, you may take the flowers home to enjoy. Click here to sign-up.
Giving in Memory
Memorial donations can be set up and used as a special way to celebrate the life of your loved one. Gifts without a specific designation will go towards First UMC Elgin's general operating budget to support all the ministries and works of the church.
