Day Three: Revive us Again

Experience, Expect and Engage the Holy Spirit
Week #1 - The "RUACH" of God

Revive Us Again
Ezekiel 37:1-14

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation” (Psalm 85:6–7). This is our prayer. Revive me again. Revive us again.

Life. Live. Vivify. You don’t hear the word vivify often. It means to “en-liven” or to make alive. Vivify means to make alive. Revive is to make something alive again.

That is what the Spirit of God does. The Spirit makes us alive again. The New Testament uses the word regenerate. To generate is to produce or create or “beget.” To regenerate is to create it again or create it anew. That is what the Spirit of God does—it creates us anew. This is what Jesus was trying to teach Nicodemus in John 3:1–8. All these words have to do with life.

Ezekiel 37:1–14 is a vision of the Valley of Bones. In other words, the Valley of Death. Into this Valley of Bones-Death comes the Spirit-wind-breath of God. Look for each time the word Spirit, wind, or breath occurs. Each time it is the same word—ruach. What is the Spirit-breath of God doing in the Valley of Death?

REFLECT: What needs to be revived in your life? What has died or what is dying and needs new life? What needs new creation? No matter how dead you think something is, God’s Spirit-breath- life is stronger.

A Prayer for Today
Breathe on me, breath of God. Revive me, Spirit of God. Renew me, Holy Spirit. Do a new work in me and among the people I love.
